Acerbis X-Tour
The Acerbis X-Tour is a four season adventure jacket. It is AA rated for abrasion, and the ventilation panels are great. I bought mine in 2021 for about 200 euros, and at that price it was a bargain. A newer version is now called the X-Rover. It keeps the same features and costs more, and it might have improved some of the flaws I ran into. This review is the X-Tour, the jacket I have actually been wearing.
Why I bought it
This was the first proper jacket I bought. I intended to ride all year, in the heat and in the cold, so I wanted one jacket that could manage that range of temperature and conditions. The two things I prioritized were an AA abrasion rating and ventilation that would be excellent.
Where it’s been
I wore it from 2021 to 2026. That took in several multi-day trips and one-day rides as well, on days that ran from about 5 degrees up to 35. On the warmer days I wore it over a t-shirt. When it was cold, I added warmer layers. I still have it, and I still use it on road-oriented trips when the weather is on the colder side. Anything off-road now is another jacket.
Protections
Protection is a highlight of this jacket. The inserts are CE level 2. I have had slow speed crashes in it, both off-road and on tarmac, and the jacket sustained them. The stitches and the zippers had no problem afterwards. The build quality is great.
Fit
With only a t-shirt underneath, the sleeves can become a bit too loose, and once they do the protections move out of place. The jacket is also a bit long on me. When I am seated on the bike, the body ends up bulging at the waist. The sleeves needed a change too: I had to cut them a bit so they matched my arm length. Off-road, I find the jacket a bit heavy.
Ventilation
I prioritized excellent ventilation, and that is what this jacket has. It is excellent in the arms, through the torso, and across the back. It is better when I am not wearing a backpack. I have used it with a pack on anyway, and it still worked well.
Layers
The waterproof layer goes on top of the jacket, so I can add rain protection over it. The insulation layer that comes with the jacket is a different matter. I found it useless, took it out, and on cold days I use my own warmer layers instead.
Value
For about 200 euros in 2021, the value for money was great. Premium brands were offering a similar jacket at almost twice that price, at least in that year.
Who it’s for
It is a great all year round jacket, largely because of the value for money. Try the sizing and make sure it fits, especially through the body when you are sat on the bike and along the sleeves. For a proper dual road, tarmac and off-road in equal measure, this is great. My riding has moved further toward off-road, and for that I now prioritize breathability, lightness and armor that stays tight. I keep the X-Tour for colder, road-oriented trips. Off-road, I use another jacket.
